Korea Is One: The Liberated North and the Colonised South

The Communist Party Marxist (CPM) Kenya stands in unflinching solidarity with the people of Korea and particularly with the working masses of South Korea, who continue to suffer under the yoke of imperialist domination by the United States and its puppet regime led by Yoon Suk-yeol. We also express our unwavering support for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), which represents the aspirations of a reunified and liberated Korean Peninsula.

The recent declaration of martial law by the fascist puppet Yoon Suk-yeol is an unambiguous manifestation of the crisis of imperialism and comprador rule in South Korea. Yoon’s regime, backed by US imperialist aggressors, has brutally sought to suppress the people’s demands for democracy, sovereignty, and justice. By banning political activities, targeting progressive organisations, and weaponising the state apparatus to crush dissent, the Yoon regime has revealed its utter disregard for the democratic aspirations of the Korean people.

This crisis is not isolated but is rooted in the systemic contradictions of US imperialism, which has treated South Korea as a neo-colony since the division of the Korean Peninsula in 1945. From the imposition of puppet regimes to the militarisation of South Korea under the guise of “joint military exercises,” US imperialism has perpetuated the division of Korea and actively sabotaged any prospects for reunification under terms of national sovereignty and socialism.

The declaration of martial law is an attempt by Yoon Suk-yeol to cling to power amidst mounting resistance from the people. It is a desperate measure by a regime that has lost legitimacy and is plagued by scandals, corruption, and its inability to address the economic and social crises affecting the working class in South Korea.

The Communist Party Marxist (CPM) Kenya unequivocally condemns Yoon Suk-yeol’s fascist dictatorship and the role of US imperialism in orchestrating and sustaining such anti-people regimes. We reaffirm that the path to Korean reunification lies in the total dismantling of US imperialist influence in the region and the establishment of a people’s democracy led by the working class and revolutionary forces in both the South and the North.

We salute the resilience of the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) and other progressive forces in South Korea, who have remained steadfast in their fight against fascism and imperialism. The courage of these forces in exposing the crimes of the Yoon regime and mobilising the people for democracy and national liberation is a beacon of hope in the global struggle against imperialism.

To the people of Korea, we reaffirm: Korea is one! The liberation of South Korea from US domination and the reunification of the Peninsula under the leadership of the working class is a historical inevitability. The Communist Party Marxist (CPM) Kenya joins hands with the progressive and revolutionary forces of the world in this sacred struggle for sovereignty, socialism, and the unity of Korea.

Imperialism Shall Be Defeated!

Long Live the Struggle for a Reunified Korea!

Long Live the People’s Democracy of Korea!

Mathare Social Justice Centre, Gacheke Gachihi, Waringa Wahome and the Politics of Celebrity Activism The Central Organising Committee of the Communist Party Marxist Kenya considers it necessary to openly address the increasingly negative role played by sections of the so called social justice movement, particularly individuals associated with Mathare Social Justice Centre, whose conduct has come to embody the politics of celebrity activism, NGO dependency, opportunism, and hostility towards revolutionary organisation. This statement is not about personalities. It is about politics. It i [ ... ]
